Finally last week, my wait was over. I have been highly anticipating the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 since I reviewed the Samsung Galaxy S7. I just wanted to get my hands on it since it was announced in March 2017. This new flagship phone from the Korean Tech giant was then launched officially on May 5, 2017; along with the S8 Plus model.
By the looks of it, no doubt, it is a Stunner. It features the signature Samsung curved screen. Although one big difference with S7 is that it has a 5.8-inch screen as compared to the 5.1 inch of S7. The package box of this Smartphone is similar to the S7 with one difference that the Phone’s name being printed in flashy blue in front and center.

Product Description of Samsung Galaxy S8
The Samsung Galaxy S8 measures 148.9 x 68.1 x 8.0mm. It’s, thus slightly taller than the S7 but narrower than many other mobiles. The aspect ratio of S8 is something weird for me, as it is a bit taller, it has 18.5:9 as compared to the standard 16:9 which most phones have, including the S7.
We get an impressive Screen to body ratio of about 84.57%. Because of that, the Home button is missing. In its place, is an onscreen navigation bar. The screen and even the back panel are protected by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass v5. Feeling this smartphone in my hand wasn’t weightless. It still tipped to 155g on the weight scale, just about 3g heavier than the S7.

Body and Color
This Samsung Galaxy S8 mobile comes in 5 colors, the new being Orchid Grey. The back panel is an Aluminium frame, which gets a shiny polish, unlike the matte finish of previous models. The volume buttons and the Bisby are on the left, whereas the lone Power button is on the right.
The front side of the Samsung Galaxy S8 is all black though, which is whatever left apart from the screen. On the top side is the status LED, an infrared illuminator for the iris recognition, ambient light, and proximity sensors, the earpiece, 8MP selfie camera, and the iris recognition camera itself. Phew.

The back side has the regular main 12MP camera with a LED Flash. The bottom side has the USB-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack to its left, a mic, along with a single loudspeaker. Didn’t like that they didn’t give stereo loudspeakers though. On the top, there is another mic, and the SIM/microSD slot.
The screen resolution is 1440×2960 pixels, which means we get an amazing pixel density of 568ppi. It has a Super AMOLED Display type with a capacitive multi-touch. All these are more or less same as the S7. This Samsung Galaxy S8 is a dual SIM (Nano-SIM) mobile, with the 2nd slot being a hybrid with an expandable micro-SD card up to 256GB.

Miss USB-OTG support
I was disappointed that we don’t get a USB-OTG support in it, as the S7 had that. Guess they have compensated that by giving a 64GB Internal memory as compared to the 32GB of S7. Even the Li-ion battery is just 3000mAh, non-removable, same as S7, in fact, the 3G talk time is 20h, 2 less than S7. Although we get Quick and Wireless charging support.
Android 7.0 Nougat
Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat in it and uses the TouchWiz UI; which is good to use and smooth in operation. The onscreen home button also doubles up as a Fingerprint sensor, which works well really. It has a 4GB of RAM.
